On October 27, 2022, an international study fair was held on the premises of the University of Burundi.  The information event was organized for the first time by the EU Delegation in cooperation with the University of Burundi with the participation of Université Lumière de Bujumbura and Université Espoir d’Afrique and was met with great interest from students.

In addition to the EU delegation, which promoted the Erasmus Mundus program, the embassies of France, Belgium, Great Britain, Switzerland, the USA and Germany took the opportunity to provide information about study opportunities and funding possibilities.

From the point of view of all those involved, the study fair was a great success, the number of visitors was very high.  Information brochures, postcards, posters and advertising materials distributed by the DAAD about the embassy in Burundi were literally snatched from the hands of the employees at the German stand.

In view of the country’s economic situation and the search for future prospects, the desire of young people to study abroad is very pronounced, so all information on study opportunities is highly welcome.  The No. 1 topic of the interested parties at the German stand were the questions of admission requirements, the necessary language skills and of course the financing of studies in Germany and access to scholarships.

The DAAD website and DAAD webinars are also available to those interested from Burundi: https://www.daad-kenya.org/en/about-us/online-seminar-schedule/

There was special applause for the announcement that a Toefl testing center will open at the U.S. Embassy on November 1, 2022.

Everyone agreed that this first event on study and scholarship opportunities in Europe and the USA would certainly not be the last.
