Die Außenstelle Nairobi besteht seit 1973 und ist zuständig für die Staaten Kenia, Tansania, Uganda, Burundi, Ruanda, Südsudan und Äthiopien. Sie ist verantwortlich für die bilaterale (bzw. regionale) Wissenschaftszusammenarbeit und führt Vor- und Endauswahlen für DAAD-Programme durch.
