The director of the DAAD regional office in Nairobi, which is responsible for Ethiopia as well as East African countries, highlighted that Ethiopia is among the top 5 countries of origin of African scholars; in 2021, a total of 685 Ethiopians received scholarships in the individual programs, in project funding and through university cooperation and EU-funded exchanges.
